Solidarity Economy Movement Initiative
Posted March 12th, 2010 by vishwas
COPAC has recently launched a new initiative in South Africa amongst the poor and workers to build a solidarity economy movement. This initiative is based on ten years of grass roots practice in township communities and five years of comparative research of the most exciting grass roots movements advancing alternative political economies. COPAC has developed the requisite activist strategies, tools and methodologies informed by learning from the grass roots and through its research. This initiative is an alternative to Black Economic Empowerment (narrow or broad) in South Africa, particularly state-led movement building, and narrow 'entrepeneurship' approaches to development. See attached a pamphlet for further details.
